What Is Chiropractic? | | |
Chiropractic is a regulated health profession in the United Kingdom, concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculo-skeletal system and the effects that these disorders have on the function of both the nervous system and general health. There is an emphasis on manual treatments including bone or spinal manipulation or adjustment (World Federation of Chiropractic, 1999).
By restoring normal function to the musculo-skeletal system chiropractors can play a major part in relieving disorders and any accompanying pain or discomfort arising from accidents, stress, illness and every day wear and tear that happens to us all as we grow older and particularly to those who have had a long sporting life.
Chiropractors take an all round approach to your health and well-being, which means they consider your symptoms in the context of your full medical history, your lifestyle and your personal circumstances.
What is Injury Rehabilitation?
The key to successful rehabilitation is the recognition of the cause of the patient’s pain and the use of appropriate treatment plans and techniques that will quickly reduce symptoms and lead to long term prevention of injury reoccurrence. Our assessment processes and comprehensive treatment options will ensure that the patient is taken through a tailored process of functional rehabilitation so that their wish for an early return to sport participation or simply pain free living, can be met.
What is massage?
This hands on technique promotes the movement of nutrients to injured or tired muscles and also encourages the removal of waste products from the affected tissues. Therefore, this can either be a useful component of injury rehabilitation or simply act as a relief from the stresses of everyday life. Massage is most effective when undertaken with our comprehensive knowledge of the healing process, the anatomical structure and function of underlying muscles and the benefits of its use in conjunction with other techniques. e.g. Myofascial Release and Muscle Energy Techniques. Our aim is to provide the patient with the most appropriate treatment that either helps promote injury recovery or simply provides stress relief for tired or stiff muscles.
